The objective of firefight is to survive with up to three other players, fighting increasingly difficult waves of covenant deployed from phantoms or spirits.

I find it to be a strange decision by Bungie to not include a matchmaking system for Firefight. People like me who have few friends that play Halo are going to be left out in the cold. Anyone have any ideas why they would have done such a thing?
At what point did you eventually decide ODST would be full price? Did you expect it to be a tough battle since consumers already thought of the game in a certain way? It was a frustrating situation to be in, absolutely.

Recently, I've begun to get the impression that there was something about ODST's Firefight mode that Reach just doesn't have, and I'm hoping to start some intelligent discussion here about it. Is it because back with ODST, it was "new"? Fans had been clamoring for a survival mode for years.
Firefight mode in "Halo 3: ODST" was a breath of fresh air for those who had become sick of constantly getting sniped by year-old phenoms. It was pretty bare-bones, though, so Bungie is beefing it up for "Halo: Reach," giving players a massive amount of customization options. In fact, according to Lars Bakken, the cooperative multiplayer design lead on "Reach," every single one of the game types that will be shipped with the disc "were created with the options suite that is available to the player.

This mode allows them to battle in multiple environments based on halo maps, on matchmaking or in vehicles, and reach increasingly difficult waves of Covenant attackers.
